Do you have a question about your will?  Yes, I have a Question

Jeremy Bentham

Bentham’s final wish was for his body to be dissected in public

Jeremy Bentham is famous for being an extremely influential philosopher and for playing an important part in the creation of University College London, but his will also gave a claim to fame.

Bentham’s final wish was for his body to be dissected in public as a part of a lecture on anatomy. Then he wanted his skeleton and head to be preserved and stored in a display cabinet.

The “Auto-icon” was built by stuffing the skeleton with hay and dressing it in Bentham’s clothes. It now belongs to University College London and is on public display, although with a wax head because the real one is under lock and key after being the subject of numerous and without doubt some very strange students’ pranks. They even took Bentham’s body out to “participate” in key staff meetings.

It seems that nothing adds to staff morale like forcing everyone to sit next to a skeleton for a couple of hours.

"I decided to get advice about making my will because I was about to travel abroad with my children for the first time in many years. My financial advisor recommended Will Written. I appreciated being able to have a consultation at home, so that I could discuss my situation in confidence. I was able to ask wide-ranging questions and Gina’s knowledge and expertise were reassuring. An estate plan was created for me that exactly suited my needs, resources, family and dependents. I have the peace of mind of having made a will that ensures my assets are safely passed to my children at the end of my life. I also have added protection if I become ill or disabled, because I have made a Lasting Power of Attorney appointing my best friend to manage my affairs if I lose the ability to manage them for myself.
